Mission and Sustainability

Who are we?

We are Jahno and Philipp and we both try to make conscious choices, be it in terms of food, mobility or fashion. But we couldn't find a gender-neutral jewelry label that fits our demand for sustainable consumption.

Why?

From the destruction and pollution of vast landscapes in the mining of raw materials to the terrible working conditions in manufacturing, the story of most jewelry is not as shiny as it looks. To change that, we need sustainable jewelry labels with responsibly made pieces. And that's what we've made our mission: to contribute to a positive change in the fashion & jewelry industry and that is why we founded clementine jewelry.

How?

What does positive change mean to us? For us it means: Best possible product quality with high longevity, a fair and environmentally friendly production and fair sales prices must become the standard. Furthermore, we believe that companies have an obligation to address social issues along their value chain: How do we improve working conditions in manufacturing countries? How do we produce jewelry in the most environmentally friendly way possible? And what role can jewelry & fashion play in breaking down stereotypical role models in society?

Manufacturing

On the one hand our medium-sized, Thailand based manufacturer, is certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). This covers the entire supply chain from mining to delivery to us. The certificate ensures a commitment to eradicate social and environmental harm in the production process. Some examples would be actions to protect biodiversity, generate as few emissions as possible, usage of renewable energy or providing transparent employment conditions, enabling parental leave and not using child labor. If you are interested in the full Code of conduct please visit the site of the Responsible Jewellery Council and get an impression of their important work.

Furthermore, our manufacturer is also Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) certified. That means, he commits to 11 values, regarding the treatment of his employees. Examples would be the right to form associations and collective bargaining, ensure a level of health and safety at the workplace as well as paying fair wages. While many people are concerned about the environmental impact of certain products, the conditions during production are often not considered sufficiently. The BSCI is actively fighting for fair trade and ensures constant improvement in its standards. Further details can be found here

Further more

Since we produce in Thailand and emissions are generated for transport and we also want to live up to our social responsibility as a company, we are a member of the "1% for the planet" network alongside companies such as Patagonia. This network links companies and organizations with environmentally beneficial projects such as reforestation, the expansion of renewable energies or the promotion of sustainable agriculture. You can see further details here. At least 1% of our annual revenue flows into these projects - which ones exactly, we decide together with you!

FAQs

We use only durable materials of the highest quality to make our jewelry. Currently, all jewelry is made from 100% recycled 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating.

Furthermore: All our products are nickel free.

Regular cleaning will help keep your jewelry shining for a very long time. Gently rub your darlings with a mild soap, warm water and a soft toothbrush. Then wash them with warm water and let them air dry on a tissue. You can also remove small traces of dirt and the first signs of fatigue with a cleaning cloth. Note that there are different cloths for different metals. Polish your jewelry gently and carefully, because too much rubbing could wear down the coating.

Since our jewelry has a very thin rhodium plating over the silver, it will not tarnish if you take good care of it and handle it carefully, as this prevents oxidation of the silver.

Option 1: Simply cut out a narrow strip of paper about 10cm long and wrap it lengthwise around your finger. Then mark the end of the overlap with a pencil and measure the marked distance with the ruler. The result in millimeters corresponds to your ring size.

For example, a distance of 5.7 cm corresponds to ring size 57.

Option 2: Use a ring that you already have at home and that fits perfectly on the corresponding finger.

You can measure the diameter with a ruler or tape measure and then multiply the value by 3.14. The result corresponds to your ring size. The result corresponds to the ring size

Currently we offer sizes 57, 60, 63 & 67 for all rings. Other sizes are not available at this time, but we are working on offering more sizes soon.

Unlike many large companies in the jewelry and fashion industry, our jewelry is lovingly produced in a medium-sized and ethically run factory in Thailand, adhering to environmentally friendly standards. Our local artisans are trained professionals and enjoy fair working conditions.

In general, we always recommend taking jewelry off before showering or swimming. Especially contact with shower gels, soaps, shampoos, chlorine and salt water should be avoided. This way you can make sure that your jewelry will look like new for a long time.

If your jewelry comes into contact with water from time to time, that's perfectly fine as long as you clean it with tap water afterwards. However, please keep in mind that this should only be an absolute exception if you want your jewelry to shine and shine like the first day for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible due to our current team size. Accordingly, we currently only sell our jewelry exactly as it is shown in our online store.

Since we want to avoid surpluses and burden the environment as little as possible, we only produce in very small quantities. Therefore our jewelry is limited and available in limited quantities. Feel free to send us an email to contact@clementinejewelry.de and we can give you more information when your favorite piece of jewelry will be available again.

We currently ship exclusively within the European Union.

Incoming orders are processed by us within 1-3 business days and placed with a standard logistics service provider. Including shipping, you should expect 3-5 days between order and delivery, depending on the country. Unfortunately, a delivery to a packing station or a parcel store is currently not possible.

The shipping costs for our insured shipping vary depending on the country. A list of shipping costs and approximate shipping times can be found in the following table or before your final order in the check-out.

For orders to the European Union, we cover the customs charges and taxes (if any), which means there are no additional fees for you here.

Other international orders may be subject to import duties and taxes once the order reaches its destination country. These potential additional fees are not covered or refunded by clementine jewelry. Since import duties and taxes vary from country to country, we recommend that you contact your local customs office for more information before placing your order.

It is important to us to make our entire value chain fair & sustainable. This starts with fair working conditions in production and ends with fair prices in sales. Even though clementine jewelry is a brand, we do not want to make disproportionate profits by offering too high a margin.

Furthermore, we do not offer general sales & discount promotions that would have to be priced into the regular retail price (which would usually be the case in order to be able to give regular discounts and still be profitable). Discount promotions will be rare and selected.

In addition, the sustainability aspect of low production volumes also plays a role here: Our narrow assortment and lower order quantities ensure reduced logistics & storage costs.

You can pay in our online store with Paypal and credit card (Mastercard, Visa & American Express). We do not offer purchase on account at the moment.

You will receive your invoice by mail as a PDF after successful order.
